Classic Japan: Discover Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto & Osaka in One Unforgettable Journey

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN TOKYO

Upon arrival at Tokyo’s Narita or Haneda International Airport, meet your English-speaking assistant and transfer to your hotel in the city. After check-in, spend the evening at leisure. You may choose to explore the nearby Shinjuku or Shibuya districts — both known for neon lights, restaurants, and bustling local life. For a first glimpse of Tokyo’s skyline, head to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building’s free observatory deck.


DAY 2: TOKYO CITY TOUR – MODERN & TRADITIONAL

Start your day with a full-day guided city tour of Tokyo. Visit Asakusa to explore the Senso-ji Temple, the oldest and most colorful temple in the city. Walk along Nakamise Shopping Street for traditional snacks and souvenirs. Then move to the Imperial Palace area for a photo stop at the gardens and outer walls. Later, explore Meiji Shrine, dedicated to Emperor Meiji and surrounded by a lush forest in the middle of the city. In the afternoon, visit the futuristic district of Odaiba or explore Harajuku and Omotesando for fashion and café culture. Return to your hotel and enjoy the evening free to explore or dine in Ginza’s upscale district.


DAY 3: MT. FUJI & HAKONE EXCURSION

After breakfast, check out and head to Hakone, a peaceful mountain town famous for its views of Mount Fuji. Travel via private vehicle or using the Hakone Free Pass. Visit Owakudani Valley, an active volcanic zone where you can taste the famous black eggs boiled in hot springs. Enjoy a scenic cruise on Lake Ashi and take the Hakone Ropeway cable car for panoramic views. If weather permits, get a beautiful view of Mount Fuji in the background. Optional: Visit the Hakone Open-Air Museum. In the evening, check-in to a traditional ryokan (Japanese inn), where you can experience tatami rooms, wear yukata, and soak in an onsen (hot spring bath). Enjoy a multi-course kaiseki dinner at the ryokan.


DAY 4: TRAVEL TO KYOTO VIA SHINKANSEN

After breakfast, check out and proceed to Odawara Station to board the Shinkansen (bullet train) to Kyoto. On arrival, transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, start exploring Kyoto’s eastern side with a visit to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, perched on a hillside offering sweeping city views. Walk through the preserved lanes of Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, lined with teahouses and souvenir shops. If time permits, stop by the Yasaka Shrine before heading back. Evening at leisure or try a kimono rental experience followed by a traditional tea ceremony.


DAY 5: KYOTO HIGHLIGHTS TOUR

Today is dedicated to the cultural heart of Kyoto. Begin with a visit to the famous Arashiyama Bamboo Grove and Tenryu-ji Temple in western Kyoto. Walk across the Togetsukyo Bridge and, if in season, enjoy a rickshaw ride through the bamboo paths. Then continue to Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion), a stunning Zen temple covered in gold leaf, followed by Ryoan-ji Temple known for its rock garden. End the day at Fushimi Inari Shrine, one of Japan’s most iconic sights with thousands of vermillion torii gates. Evening optional: Visit Gion District to spot geishas or attend a cultural performance at Gion Corner.


DAY 6: KYOTO TO OSAKA – DOTONBORI & CITY LIFE

After breakfast, check out and take a short train ride to Osaka, Japan’s kitchen and entertainment capital. Upon arrival, check-in to your hotel and relax. In the afternoon, explore Dotonbori — Osaka’s most famous street filled with neon lights, local street food (try takoyaki and okonomiyaki), and shops. Walk along the canal and experience the lively nightlife. You can also visit the Umeda Sky Building for a panoramic city view or shop at Shinsaibashi.


DAY 7: UNIVERSAL STUDIOS JAPAN OR NARA DAY TRIP

Today, choose between two popular options based on your interest. Option 1: Spend a full day at Universal Studios Japan, one of Asia’s top theme parks featuring Harry Potter World, Minions Park, and thrilling rides. Option 2: Take a half-day trip to Nara, Japan’s first capital city, known for its friendly free-roaming deer and the giant bronze Buddha at Todai-ji Temple. Visit Kasuga Taisha Shrine and return to Osaka by evening. Enjoy your final dinner at a local izakaya or sushi bar.


DAY 8: DEPARTURE FROM OSAKA

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and transfer to Kansai International Airport (KIX) for your flight back home. You leave Japan with unforgettable memories of ancient traditions, futuristic cities, and warm hospitality.
